I played around with creating a site in WebMatrix today. I set up a rss feed from this blog and created a database using data from my movie project. I used C#, Razor and SQL to create the site.

I spent most of the day struggling with 2 exercises in the headfirst C# book. I'll take a more rested look at those tomorrow, but I needed a portfolio site to document all of the projects I would be working on. Having made a promise to myself that I would finish one project before I went to bed that night, I have my first live site: http://debrajoyner.azurewebsites.net/. Simple, but a functional platform I can improve as we go forward.

Inspired by Yola Lu and an article sited in a previous post , I'm going to create 30 Web projects in 30 days. I'm working through the exercises in the Head First C# book, but then moving on to creating my own.

I'll be starting tomorrow, so please leave me feedback on the projects.

Halloween Costumes for Programmers

Fast Company had an interesting article on Deliberate practice. I find when I'm learning something new that taxes my brain, I have about 5 solid hours in me. It's interesting that that's the number they came up with too.
